On the 8th & 9th of July, Charity Lives joined the Professional Football Players Mothers Association (PFPMA) as they hosted two charity events to help raise money for Costa Mesa-based Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) and at risk-youth programs. On day one Cheryl Foster (mother to former NFL running back and Tustin High football star DeShaun Foster) led a team of NFL mothers to a 14-0 victory over the mothers of NBA and WNBA players in a charity flag football game at Tustin High School. Last year, the teams played a charity basketball game in Orlando, where the NBA/WNBA moms won. “We came to win and seek revenge,” said Foster.  “Our goal here is to have fun (while and at the same time) raise money for two worthy causes.”

In celebration of a successful football game, NFL and NBA mothers of PFPMA came together for its “14th Annual Pre-Season Conference & Gala Event” on day two. Located at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Newport, more than 200 guests were escorted on the red carpet for an evening filled with a mothers & sons fashion show, a dinner buffet, a live & silent auction and entertainment.

Some of the attendees included Char McNabb (President of PFPMA and the mother to Donovan McNabb), Cheryl Foster (co-chair of the charity event) and her son DeShaun Foster, Berma Colbert(co-chair of the charity event) and her son Keary Colbert), Gayle Jackson (mother to DeSean Jackson), Dorothy Okung and her son Russell Okung and Lucille Harrison (Shaquille O’Neal’s mother).

“TACA and the families we serve are incredibly grateful of the support from PFPMA and their sons for the amazing events this weekend to support families living with autism, “said Lisa Ackerman, founder of TACA.  “They bring a level of fun, support, and awareness that is much needed for TACA and the autism community.”
